RITC specialise in Inspection and Non-Destructive Testing - servicing a broad spectrum of industries including Quality Engineering, Petrochemical, Power Generation, Mining, Marine, Chemical, and Construction.

Experience and qualifications
RITC inspection personnel are highly qualified and have extensive experience in their fields of activity. Welding Inspectors are qualified to SAIW Level I and II, Pressure Vessel Inspectors are registered Competent Persons and/or hold an I.P.E. certificate (Inspector of Pressurised Equipment). Ongoing training keeps personnel up to date with technological advancements and new statutory regulations.

Statutory inspection and testing of new, modified, repaired and in-service pressure vessels is in accordance with OHASA, and is conducted by registered Competent Persons and Inspectors of Pressurised Equipment (IPE's).

RITC is accredited by SANAS as an inspection body, which permits the inspection of new and repaired pressure vessels.

RITC has in its employ NDT Technicians that collectively have over 50 years experience in this field. The Technicians are qualified to local (SNT-TC-1A and SAQCC) and international standards (ASNT, PCN). The technicians are qualified in all NDT disciplines and are certified to an accepted written practice by an internally qualified Level III. RITC Technicians have vast experience and knowledge in all aspects of non-destructive testing and are always doing ongoing training to enhance their skills.

Statutory Pressure Vessel Inspections and Surveys

Testing is carried out by qualified inspectors. All types and sizes of vessels can be handled at client premises or RITC workshops. Inspection reports and certification is provided to satisfy legal requirements.

Hydrostatic Pressure Testing of Pressure Vessels and Piping Systems
Testing is carried out by qualified inspectors. All types and sizes of vessels can be handled at client premises or RITC workshops. Inspection reports and certification is provided to satisfy legal requirements.

Pressure Vessel Design and Certification
Testing is carried out by qualified inspectors. All types and sizes of vessels can be handled at client premises or RITC workshops. Inspection reports and certification is provided to satisfy legal requirements.

Welding Inspection and Surveillance
Welding surveillances and final inspection is carried out by SAIW qualified Welding Inspectors, ensuring that the welding processes and parameters comply with the stipulated weld procedure specifications. Final visual inspection supplemented with the relevant Non-Destructive Examination Techniques is conducted to determine acceptability within the manufacturing codes acceptance criteria. A review of supporting welding documentation ensures full compliance to code requirements.

Weld Procedure and Welder Qualification
Weld Procedure Specifications can be generated according to specific client requirements and conditions. These procedures are then qualified by welding prepared test pieces under controlled conditions, and witnessed by an RITC Welding Inspector. The relevant inspection and mechanical testing is carried out under the auspices of RITC prior to issue of the Procedure Qualification Record. Welder Performance Testing is also carried out in a similar manner.

Wall Thickness Surveys
Testing is carried out by qualified inspectors. All types and sizes of vessels can be handled at client premises or RITC workshops. Inspection reports and certification is provided to satisfy legal requirements.

Corrosion Surveys
Many structures and piping systems, particularly in the mining, petrochemical and marine industries are exposed to severe environmental conditions. Various forms and degrees of corrosion can leave members and pipes severely weakened or thinned - vulnerable to catastrophic failure.

RITC specialise in evaluating the integrity of structural steelwork and piping systems. An initial inspection survey is carried out, in conjunction with periodic inspection maintenance schedules (software package specifically developed by Euro-Technology). Results are downloaded onto the system - allowing for condition monitoring - identifying potential failure areas.

Inspection and Quality Control of fabrication and erection activities
RITC supply inspection personnel monitor sub-contractor performance on behalf of clients. Planned inspection and Q.C. activities can be applied to any fabrication or erection activity ensuring that client requirements and specifications are adhered to.

Project Quality Engineering
RITC provides Quality Assurance services at all stages of construction projects through an audit and surveillance function. Compilation or reviews of project specifications prior to tender is carried out by Certified Quality Engineers. Assessments and audits are carried out by Quality Assurance personnel on behalf of companies, to establish capabilities with regard to client requirements and project specifications. The scope of the audits and surveillances performed include, but are not limited to Quality Management Systems, Infrastructure, Workload Capability and Safety Performance.


NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTING conducted by RITC

Ultrasonic Testing

Ultrasonic Testing detects flaws in castings, forgings, welds and various other components. Inspection can be conducted pre-service or in-service. Specific wall thickness surveys on pressure vessels, boilers and piping will determine corrosion / erosion rates and will monitor system and component integrity.

Radiographic Testing
Radiographic Inspection services are performed with Conventional Gamma Radiography (IR-192 isotopes). Heavy wall Gamma Radiography is carried out using CO 60 isotopes for heavy wall components. Conventional X-Ray Radiography is done as required. For close proximity radiography a system known as SCAR is utilised.

All Radiographic Technicians are registered with the Department of Health and have the required equipment to do Radiography - within the legal parameters.

Surface Flaw Detection
Magnetic Particle Testing uses AC-DC and Permanent DC Magnetic Yokes. Colour Contrast, Fluorescent and Dry Powder Techniques detect surface and sub-surface defects.

Dye Penetrant testing uses both Colour contrast and Fluorescent methods - Water Washable, Solvent Removable and Post Emulsification Consumables.
